The theology that gave coherency and solidity to their preaching was the Scriptural Calvinistic system embodied in the Westminster Standards. The Bible to them was the Word of God, and its doctrines of Ruin by the Fall, Redemption by Christ, and Regeneration by the Holy Spirit were proclaimed without a hesitating note. Christ crucified as an all-sufficient and all-suitable Saviour was the burden of their preaching.
