Scottish Heroines of the Faith by Donald Beaton is a memorial of the lives of some of the godly women who were eminent for faith in Scotland in 16th and 17th centuries. They were a noble band who chose "rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures" of Scotland, for they "had respect unto the recompence of the reward."
The Heroines: Mrs Ronaldson, Mrs Welsh, Mrs James Guthrie, of Stirling, Mrs Brown, of Priesthill, Margaret MacLachlan and Margaret Wilson, Isabel Alison, Marion Harvey, Anne, Duchess of Rothes , Ann Marchionness of Hamilton, Barbara, Lady Caldwell, Jane, Viscountess Kenmure, Margaret, Marchioness of Argyll, Mrs John Carstares, Christian, Lady Boyd, Margaret, Lady Colvill, Elizabeth, Lady Culross, Mrs William Veitch, Mrs John Livingstone, and Mrs James Durham.
