John Tallach was born on the 24th September 1890 in Dornoch, Sutherland. He was ordained a minister of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland in 1924, offering to work on the church's Mission Station in Southern Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. As a Missionary he did not spare himself, working faithfully and lovingly through many difficulties, for twenty-two years. Because of health problems he did not return to the mission field after his 1946 furlough. On the 13th January 1949 he was inducted to the Oban charge of the FP Church where he ministeredfor seven happy years - until the Lord took him home.
