William Mason
William Mason (1719-1791) was a friend and hearer of William Romaine, who wrote a preface to this devotional. Mason became editor of the Gospel Magazine for a time; a short biography is supplied. His Morning meditations for every day of the year was published in 1765, and was received so well that Evening meditations followed. Each meditation is upon a select verse of scripture, and is the length of a single page. Often a verse of poetry or a hymn is appended. Mason's stated aim is 'to establish the faith, promote the comfort, and influence the practice of the followers of the Lamb.'
